Fiona Whitworth is Queen Victoria Market’s Director of Strategy and part of the City of Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market Precinct Renewal Program team, where she is involved with planning the details of Council’s investment to secure the long-term future of Melbourne’s market.
Fiona has extensive experience in urban strategy, design and management, with a focus on the social and cultural outcomes that public places can bring to cities. She has been involved in planning for QVM and the city’s north since 2009, and has also played a key role in a variety of arts, urban and strategic projects including the Melbourne Arts Precinct Blueprint (2013) and Transforming Australian Cities (2010). Fiona was part of the original management team of Federation Square where, as Special Projects Manager, she helped oversee the transition of the site from construction through to a vibrant major public place.
Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Melbourne and is presently undertaking a PhD as a member of the Research Unit in Public Cultures at the University of Melbourne.
